So, today whilst I was looking at the great teenage abyss of myspace, I came across a band called undadogg. I almost didn't listen to them, due to their name. I actually assumed undadogg was some kind of rapper. What I found instead was a rather entertaining band from Toronto.

If Deerhoof didn't sound so almost japanese, they would probably sound a bit like undadogg.

I try to only post new and exciting things, but occasionally I feel compelled to post something that's been around for a while. Albeit, you won't find this in many record stores, which really is a crime.

My hero, Gord Downie, has two solo albums now, both of which were completely ignored by the Tragically Hip fanbase. However, I think I like them better than alot of the Tragically Hip records.

Gordon Downie - Chancellor

I could have made chancellor without Gord Downie on my mind.

We Are Scientists - Callbacks Under The Sea

This is amazing!

I guess that you would have to hear We Are Scientist's original version of Callbacks to appreciate how funny this is. It's a song that one might yell along to, rather than sing. It's sort of a fast song. Callbacks Under The Sea, though? It takes it easy. It's kind of twangy. And melodic. And, despite sort of being a joke, is basically amazing. OK.

Nelly Furtado - Maneater

This is amazing too!

This is because Nelly Furtado's new songs that apparently leaked to the internet or whatever are so fuckin' sassy. She has come so far from I'm Like A Bird. This is pretty much as good as Madonna's new song - and that song is amazing. This is amazing! My zeal for synthesizer beats knows no bounds.

So, my ever-daunting adventures in the music world have taken me all the way from old west coast rootsy acoustic rock to - gasp - new west coast acoustic rock!

The Golden Birds are a pretty awesome sort-of-indie group from California. They are William Hung's classmates. This is a song from their older album "Carrier".

Golden Birds - Thermometer

After a couple of albums sounding very much like that, they released "Transamerica", which did away with drums and bass altogether and sounds like a campfire or something.

Golden Birds - Sioux Falls South Dakota

In conclusion, they're not as ugly as Josh Ritter.

For the record, I don't really like country music. That does not however, stop Josh Ritter from being one of my heroes.

So imagine my delight when I woke up this morning when I woke up and found he has released a track from his forthcoming album. Actually, don't try to imagine it, it is unimaginable.

"Girl in the War" manages to have a bigger sound than Mr. Ritter has gone for in the past, incorperating more than himself and an acoustic guitar. While that was enough, it's awesome to hear him exploring some new territory.

In short, I kind of exploded in joy.
